Each part of your body has a corresponding area on your feet which
mirrors inner tension and loss of energy. These reflexes work like
"electrical terminals" for the whole nervous system. Gentle pressure
on these tension points soothes away tiny toxic deposits, and brings
deep relaxation by "switching off" stress patterns so your body
can repair and heal itself.
Reflexology was brought to the West in 1913 by an American ear,
nose and throat surgeon who discovered the reflexes had a pain relieving
effect on related areas. We know now that this is caused by the
release of endorphins which create that feeling of renewed well-being
and comfort within the body which is experienced after a session.
Reflexology unblocks energy pathways, tones up specific organ function
after depletion through overwork and stress, and stimulates circulation
so oxygen and nutrients can reach the areas where healing is needed.
Reflexology is often used with acupuncture treatment and on its
own is particularly good during detox programmes, for managing stress,
rebalancing the endocrine system, sinus and allergy problems, and
preparing for childbirth. Reflexology sessions last one hour.
